Corporate chiefs abuse workers
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
The media relentlessly criticize the government, but when it comes to criticizing business they are strangely silent.
We don’t hear about how tens of millions of Americans are oppressed in their jobs by companies that pay them peanuts, keep them in a constant state of anxiety over whether or not they will keep their jobs, and give them a paltry two weeks of vacation for 50 weeks of hard work. People who work at monotonous jobs and who work with their muscles especially need more vacation time. And what’s wrong with raising the minimum wage to $13 an hour?
Wherever you find workers being oppressed in these ways you can always trace it back to the owner of the business.
