Harold French, of Stockbridge, recently took part in a veterans breakfast with students at Muddy Brook Elementary School. French supports the Stockbridge Grange. He was a member of Future Farmers of America 50 years ago, and he used to test milk from local farms by taste; he remembers the smell of silage, chopped corn fermenting in siloes for cattle feed. His father also served the community. Before the days of ambulances, French’s father responded to local medical emergencies, carrying a first aid kit in his Model A Ford. These facts were mischaracterized in Thursday’s Berkshires Week.
