Crime spree nets 6o days in jail


LENOX >> A Pittsfield woman who police said went on a mini-crime spree in March has been sentenced to 60 days in the Western Massachusetts Regional Women's Correctional Center in Chicopee.

Danielle A. Newberry, 34, of Orchard Street, was caught shoplifting March 5 at Yankee Candle on Pittsfield Road, according to a report by Lenox Police officer Timothy Sheehan.

Further investigation indicated the Newberry also had stolen from nearby Marshall's the same day and was wanted on an outstanding warrant for shoplifting in Pittsfield.

She was found guilty in Southern Berkshire District Court on Thursday to one count of larceny over $250. She was sentenced by Judge Paul Vrabel.
