DA to announce developments in 1992 Massachusetts slaying
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. >> Massachusetts prosecutors say they have new information about the slaying of a middle school teacher's aide nearly a quarter of a century ago.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni has scheduled a news conference on Wednesday to disclose what his office calls a "significant development" in the April 1992 death of Lisa Ziegert.
The 24-year-old Agawam woman was working her night job at a card and gift shop when she disappeared.
She was reported missing by another employee who arrived at work in the morning to find the store open, the lights on, and Ziegert's car still outside. The money in the cash register and the victim's purse appeared undisturbed.
Ziegert's body was found four days later in a wooded area about four miles away. She had been raped and stabbed.
