Dalton: Annual Burns’ supper to benefit Wounded Warrior Project

Friday January 18, 2013

The fourth annual Burns’ Supper of the Berkshires, a tribute to Scottish poet Robert Burns, will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Wahconah Country Club.

This year’s event is expanding to include the public and will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides assistance to returning injured veterans.

Dr. Timothy Counihan, chief of surgery at Berkshire Medical Center, who recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, is co-chairing the event with Barbara Osborne, 2013 president-elect of the Berkshire Board of Realtors.

Program highlights include the piping in of the haggis, the traditional dish made immortal by the Burns poem "Address to the Haggis," poetry reading, a Toast to the Lassies and the Reply, Highland music, and a silent auction.

To add to the spirit of the evening, ethnic dress is encouraged (kilt, sari, dashiki). Black tie is optional.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased by credit card, check or cash.

For more information, contact Osborne at (413) 655-0003 or email berkshireburnsnight@gmail.com.
