Dalton: Circus is coming to town

DALTON >> The Dalton Lions Club will host its 24th annual circus fundraiser Monday and Tuesday, July 11 and 12, at the American Legion field on Route 9.

A new circus this year, the Zerbini Family Circus, will have performances at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Monday and 1:30, 5 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with free parking on the Legion grounds.

The tent raising begins at 8 a.m. Monday. Free coffee, doughnuts and juice will be available while supplies last.

The circus features performing camels, ponies, dogs, Clydesdale and miniature horses, an aerial motorcyclist, trapeze artists, and more.

Advance tickets can be purchased through July 10 at Berkshire County Big Y markets, Dalton General Store, Dalton CRA, Greenridge Variety, Harry's Supermarket in Pittsfield, and Val's Variety in Adams.

Advance tickets cost $10 for adults, $6 for children under 12, and free for kids under 2. On show days, tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 per child.

The Dalton Lions Charities are seeking funds for their "Send a Child to the Circus" program. Through the sponsorship of area businesses and individuals, tickets are provided to six area family service agencies.

Requests for over $6,800 have been received. To date only $5,000 has been raised. Checks can be mailed to Dalton Lions Charities, 36 Claremont Road, Dalton, MA 01226-2009.
