Dalton: COA offering fuel assistance information session

The Dalton Council on Aging and Senior Center will be hosting a free information session on LIHEAP Fuel Assistance for the remainder of this heating season at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3.

Fuel assistance is still available for eligible first-time applicants. A representative from Berkshire Community Action Council will be present to discuss eligibility guidelines, including household size and income limits, and will remain at the center to process applications.

Those applying will need to bring IDs for all household members, income verification for all members, heating source and account number, copy of current utility bills, and rent or mortgage verification.

The presentation will follow the Elder Services congregate meal held at the Dalton Senior Center, 40 Field Street Extension. Guests wishing to join the roast turkey dinner at noon must reserve their meal by 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2. There is a suggested $2 donation to Elder Services for those 60 and older, and a $7 fee for those under 60.

For more information and to reserve a seat, call the COA and Senior Center at (413) 684-2000.
