Dalton: Wahconah names Boys & Girls State delegates


DALTON >> Wahconah Regional High School principal Aaron Robb has announced the students from the junior class who were chosen to represent the school at Boys and Girls State, model legislatures sponsored by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary.

The following students served as delegates from June 11 to 17 at Stonehill College in North Easton.

Jessie Downer, daughter of Daniel and Susan Downer of Dalton, is president of National Honor Society, member of Rotary Interact, coaches youth sports, and serves on the Dalton CRA Youth Advisory Board. She is a CCD teacher and counselor at Camp Holy Cross.

Jillian Gaudette, daughter of Daniel and Josephine Gaudette of Dalton, is a member of the National Honor Society, the Senior Assembly Committee, volunteers at the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, and works with students with special needs.

Brandy Giansiracusa, daughter of Julia Giansiracusa of Dalton and Eric Giansiracusa of Pittsfield, plays in the school band and is a member of the Senior Assembly Steering Committee, She volunteers at Notchview Ski Resort, Windsor.

Alexis Kays, daughter of Daniel and Colleen Kays of Dalton, has served as class treasurer and Student Advisory Council representative. She is a member of the National Honor Society, a Bible Camp counselor, and volunteers at fundraisers and Moments House.

Morgan Therrien, daughter of Paul and Donna Therrien of Lanesborough, is member of Student Council, Student Ambassadors and Apollonian Players. She is involved with her church youth group and volunteers with the Tanglewood Ambassadors and senior citizens.

Daniel Brainerd, son of George Baldasarre and Deidre Brainerd of Dalton, serves as treasurer of the Business Professionals of America. He is a member of Rotary Interact, National Honor Society, and volunteers at the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter.

Hayden Cantoni, son of James Peters and Angela Cantoni of Dalton, is a member of the National Honor Society and Rotary Interact. He has participated in several community and school improvement projects as a Boy Scout.

Dalton Dean, son of Stephen and Sharon Dean of Dalton, is a member of the Senior Assembly Steering Committee, Rotary Interact, and school soccer, Nordic skiing, and track and field teams. He played soccer for the Global Premier Soccer Team.

Connor Mathews, son of Christopher and Kimberly Mathews of Dalton, is a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, and serves as a sportsmanship mentor for elementary school children and tutors at the Dalton Youth Center.

Max McIlquham, son of Mark and Kelly Mcilquham of Hinsdale, is a member of the Latin Club, Rotary Interact, Senior Assembly Steering Committee, and has participated in school sports and several fundraising activities for charity.

Samuel Pyser, son of Neil and Michelle Pyser of Hinsdale, is a member of the Robotics Club, Rotary Interact and National Honor Society. He competes in sports and has been on the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Committee for 10 years.

The students were selected by balloting among faculty, administration, and guidance personnel based on service, scholarship, citizenship, sportsmanship, character and leadership.

Boys' State is sponsored by the Benjamin F. Sullivan Post No. 155 of the American Legion, with Eric Jacobson serving as chairman, and Girls' State by the Legion Auxiliary, with Gloria Schilling as chairperson.
