Dalton: Water system flushing to begin Monday

Thursday May 2, 2013

The Dalton Fire District has announced the annual spring flushing of the town’s water system will begin on Monday, May 6.

Water mains throughout Dalton will be flushed over the next six weeks to remove accumulations of pipeline corrosion products. Mains will be flushed Monday through Friday each week, except on holidays, between the hours of 7:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.

The flushing may cause localized dirty water and reduced service pressure. Measures will be taken to ensure proper levels of treatment and disinfecting are maintained in the system at all times.

Residents should let dirty water run for a short period of time to clear prior to use. Should dirty water or low pressure conditions persist after 3:30 p.m., contact the Dalton Fire District Water Department at (413) 684-6124 or (413) 684-0300.
