DCR commissioner resigns after 7 months

BOSTON >> The state's parks chief has resigned after seven months on the job.

The Boston Globe reports that Carol Sanchez said in a letter to Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Matthew Beaton that she was stepping down as the Department of Conservation and Recreation commissioner to pursue other opportunities. The resignation is effective immediately.

Sanchez joined Gov. Charlie Baker's administration in April.

Beaton says Assistant Secretary Dan Sieger would serve as acting commissioner.
