Don't judge disabled by appearance
I am glad that someone finally took a stand for us disabled people who actually need the assistance of the handicapped sign ("Handicapped have nothing to prove," Christine Hoppus, letter Nov. 8). People should understand, as Chris tine stated, that there are people who are disabled but look as if they are not, and it is absolutely necessary for us to use this card.
I also have progressive Multiple Sclerosis and sometimes can walk with a cane to the best of my ability, but while I’m out I use my handicapped accessible card because it is very hard for me to walk long distances as my MS affects my balance and endurance. I thank Christine for taking the time to write this for those of us who are struggling with disabilities.
