Drainage work to get underway on Main Street in Housatonic
GREAT BARRINGTON -- Borges Construction Co. of Ludlow will be digging test pits in Housatonic on Thursday to begin the construction of more than 1,200 feet of new drainage lines on Main Street from Pleasant Street to South Street.
The project also includes installing new manholes and catch basins. The $85,00 project was funded at the 2013 annual town meeting.
The project upgrades the drainage system in Housatonic and replaces infrastructure that was installed as long as 75 years ago, according to town Highway Facilities Superintendent Peter Soules. Detours will be arranged as needed.
