Driver OK after car crashes into Pittsfield house

PITTSFIELD — Police are investigating a Christmas Eve accident during which a 20-year-old woman lost control and crashed into a Dewey Avenue home.

According to police and a witness, the driver — whose name police did not release — was traveling northbound on Dewey about 1 p.m. when she swerved to avoid a dark-colored car traveling in the opposite direction.

The woman mounted the sidewalk, lost control and struck the side of 121 Dewey Ave., causing heavy front-end damage to her vehicle, but no injuries.

Police said the city's Building Inspector determined the home was still safe to occupy following the crash.

Thursday afternoon Pittsfield police said there had been no citations issued to the driver, but the crash remained under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Shaun Gariepy at the Pittsfield Police Department at 413-448-9700.

Contact Bob Dunn at 413-496-6249.
