Due to flu, St. Joe's boys hoops pulls out of Hoophall tourney
PITTSFIELD -- Due to a flu epidemic at the school, the St. Joseph's High School basketball team will not be participating in the Spalding Hoophall Basketball Classic in Springfield on Saturday.
The game was scheduled for noon.
On Friday, about half the school, including teachers and administrators, were absent from the building, according to coach Paul Brindle.
"We haven't had practice in a few days," he said. "I'm down to two healthy players."
Brindle said he contacted the sponsors of the Springfield event and they allowed his team to withdraw.
