Early morning deck fire in Pittsfield appears to be accidental
PITTSFIELD -- Pittsfield Fire Department is investigating the cause of an early morning deck fire that caused alarm at a multi-unit residence located at 91 Dalton Ave.
Deputy Fire Chief Michael Polidoro said the fire appears to have started in or near a planter on the third floor deck of the three-story building around 2 a.m. on Tuesday.
He said there were four tenants in the building at the time.
The fire was contained to the deck and quickly put out. No one was injured and no residents were displaced from their homes.
"It continues to be under investigation but it appears accidental," the deputy fire chief said.
