♦ 'Kindergarten Night': "WeeMuse: Countdown to Kindergarten Night" takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Berkshire Museum, 39 South St., Pittsfield. This event is free and open to the public.
Families can help their children get ready for kindergarten by taking a ride on a school bus, practicing packing their backpack, touring model classrooms and trying other kindergarten activities. Experts from the Transition Team of Pittsfield will answer any questions.
City Stage Company Inc. will present a special play, "D.W. Counts Down to Kindergarten" at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets will available that day beginning at 5 p.m. at the museum's front desk. Information: www.berkshiremuseum.org or call (413) 443-7171.
♦ Scholarship contest: Sikorsky Aircraft has launched the 2013 Sikorsky Helicopter 2050 Challenge. Youths, ages 9 to 16, are asked to envision a helicopter design capable of addressing global issues likely to be encountered by mid-century.
The grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship check, meet with Sikorsky engineers and receive an expenses-paid tour of the Black Hawk and Seahawk helicopter assembly lines at Sikorsky's Stratford, Conn., headquarters.
Submit their entries by Sept. 30, via www.helicopter2050.com.
♦ 'Baseball in the Park': On Friday, the Lenox Library will telecast a New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox game on the big screen in Roche Reading Park, adjacent to the library at 18 Main St. Bring chairs and blankets to enjoy a free showing of this game. The first pitch in Fenway Park is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. Ballpark refreshments will be available for purchase starting at 6:30 p.m. No rain date is scheduled.

♦ 'Free Fun Fridays': There are four remaining events scheduled in the Berkshires this summer in partnership with the Highland Street Foundation's Free Fun Fridays program. The program offers families free admission, as well as special activities at premiere cultural venues in Massachusetts.
This Friday, free admission will be offered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Information: highlandstreet.org/freefunfridays.html.
♦ YMCA Kids Triathlon: Volunteers and participants are being sought for the fourth annual Pittsfield Family YMCA Kids Triathlon to be held Friday, Aug. 23, at Burbank Park on Onota Lake, Pittsfield.
Sponsored by Berkshire Bank, the Kids Triathlon is open to boys and girls, ages 7 to 14 years old. Beginning at 6 p.m., participants ages 11 to 14 years old will swim 100 yards, bike 4 miles and run a mile. Beginning at 6:15, participants who are 7 to 10 years old will swim 50 yards, bike 2 miles and run a half-mile race. The races will start and finish at the Controy Pavilion, where an awards ceremony will be held afterward.
To register, visit the YMCA or go to www.active.com. Cost is $15 for YMCA members and $25 for non-members. All participants who finish the triathlon will receive a finisher's medal and a T-shirt. Awards will be given to the top finisher in each age division.
