Ancient history of Stockbridge: Eric Johnson, lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, will speak on Saturday about the finds of a 4,000-year-old settlement in the Berkshires as part of the Bidwell House Museum History Talks series.
The talk will be held at 10 a.m. in Tyringham Union Church, Main Road, Tyringham. Admission is $15 per person, $10 for members of the museum. Information: (413) 528-6888 or go to www.bidwellhousemuseum.org.
"Glory" on stage: VOICES Theater Company, in collaboration with Berkshire Historical Society, will present "Glory," a new historic Pittsfield play by Sally Filkins, author of "The Melville Trilogy."
"Glory," will be performed this Thursday, Friday and Saturday and again Aug. 8, 9, 10, Sept. 6 and 7 at the Pittsfield Cemetery, 203 Wahconah St., in Pittsfield. July performances are at 7 p.m.; August and September performances at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission and will be available at the gate.

WRLF open house and ice cream social: The Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation will host its annual summer open house and ice cream social from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at its Sheep Hill headquarters, Route 7 in Williamstown.
There will be nature activities, an interpretive hike of the meadow, and local ice cream served with seasonal fruits. Visitors are also encouraged to visit exhibits and the new interpretive center.
A $3 donation is suggested. The event will be held rain or shine. Bring a picnic supper and enjoy the evening by the pond after the program. Information: www.wrlf.org or call (413) 458-2494.
Preschool playgroup: Berkshire Country Day School will host a summer morning playgroup session for children ages 2 to 4 and their parents/caretakers. "BCD & Me," part of BCD's ongoing program series for preschool-aged children, is free and open to the public. Registration is suggested but not required.
This Thursday, teacher Sarah Cooke will lead a one-hour session beginning at 9:30 a.m., which will include stories, music, dance and creative play.
