Education vital to women's equality
It was exciting to read the Oct. 16 Eagle article "Narrow ing gender gap." Forty years after the 1972 federal law on equity in schools and 50 years after the start of the women’s movement we are still dealing with misogyny in our culture. It is vital to the healthy growth and development of all women to be seen as equal to men in their ability to lead and prevail.
The necessity of female role models and mentors, both female and male, is apparent. However, it is the educational system which is vital with a belief and practice in equality of opportunity for girls, women, mothers and wives. Women are 51 percent of the population. We need to be seen as equal to any job we are qualified to do, whatever it may be.
