Egremont: Berkshire Summer Strings offers music programs
Standing Strings Studio will hold Berkshire Summer Strings Monday through Friday, July 14 to 18, at French Park in North Egremont.
The day program for youths provides instrument instruction, songwriting, artistic and outdoor activities.
The "Play After Work" adult program, beginning at 5:30 p.m. each day, will include jam sessions for a variety of abilities and styles, and workshops for acoustic instruments.

A benefit concert for the Berkshire Summer Strings Youth Scholarship Fund will be performed by the instructors at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at French Park. A donation of $20 is suggested; those 18 and under are free.
A contra dance with the instructors as house band will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Dewey Hall in Sheffield. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, and $25 for families.
Berkshire Summer Strings also offers a number of free activities open to the public. The community is welcome to join a community sing at 9 a.m. each day under the pavilion at French Park. Community members are welcome to bring acoustic instruments and join the Community Orchestra Hour each day at 4 p.m.
The program will culminate with a free performance by the youth and adult students at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 18.
