Egremont: Garden Club plans scholarship tea
The annual Egremont Garden Club Scholarship Tea will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at First Congregational Church, 251 Main St.
Colleen Janze, executive director of the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum, will present "Suffragettes & Postcards that won the votes." From the 1850s through the early 1900s, postcards were used to help sway popular view and gain an expanding reach.
From the collection of over 200 postcards owned by the museum, Janze will demonstrate how the postcards helped to achieve the final outcome. A collection of these cards will be on view before and after the presentation.
A fee of $15 is required. Proceeds will be used to fund the studies of one local student majoring in agriculture, horticulture or culinary arts.
