HADLEY >> Their seasons ended prematurely, but post-season honors have been handed out to Williams College basketball players Dan Aronowitz and Amanni Fernandez.

Both Arnowitz and Fernandez were named to their respective All-NESCAC first teams.

Aronowitz, a junior guard and forward from Columbus, Ohio, finished the season by ranking third in scoring (18.2 points per game) and fifth in rebounding (7.4 rebounds per game). He was the only player in the conference to rank in the top five in both categories.

The Eph was also one of the better 3-point shooters in the conference, averaging 40 percent of his shots from behind the arc.

Trinity's Shay Ajayi is the NESCAC men's player of the year, while Jeff Brown of Middlebury is the coach of the year. It's the fourth time Brown has won the award, as he guided the Panthers to a NESCAC tournament championship. Bowdoin's Jack Simonds was named the rookie of the year.

In addition to Ajayi and Aronowitz, Lucas Hausman of Bowdoin, Tom Palleschi of Tufts and Matt St. Amour of Middlebury were also named to the first team.

Fernandez, a sophomore guard from Queens, led NESCAC with 5.0 assists per game. She was fifth in the league with a 15.0 scoring average. She hit 43.4 percent from outside the 3-point arc and 80 percent from the line.

Tufts' Michela North and Bowdoin's Shannon Brady shared NESCAC player-of-the-year honors. Amherst's G.P. Gromacki was named coach of the year. Gromacki, who led Amherst to the NESCAC championship, earned his fifth coach-of-the-year award.

Joining Fernandez, North and Brady on the first team were Amherst's Ali Doswell and Colby's Carylanne Wolfington. Catherine Harrison of Middlebury is the rookie of the year.
