CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The road to the NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse Final Four came to an abrupt halt for the Williams women on Saturday.

The Ephs scored twice in the final 1:19 of the game, but their rally fell short as NESCAC rival Colby beat the Ephs 8-6.

Jenna Chodus scored for the Ephs with 1:19 left, but they could not score again until Nancy Palmer’s goal with one second left on the clock.

Palmer gave the Ephs a 1-0 lead when she scored midway through the first half. Colby rallied to take a 3-2 halftime lead.

Williams (14-5) made it 5-4 on a goal by Hilary Cook, but the Mules (11-6) scored three unanswered goals and held on.

Colby will play SUNY Cortland, 19-3 winners over Redlands in Saturday’s first game.
