Event worthy of Audie Furgal

Saturday July 6, 2013

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

By all accounts the late Audie Furgal was a gracious, warm and generous woman loved and admired by many. Thus, the Berkshires Second Annual Audie Furgal Tennis Classic held last weekend was, indeed, a worthy tribute to her memory.

Teaming up with the Porchlight Home Care Association, Lee Community Tennis Association dynamo Clare "Bunnie" Lahey mobilized an army of sponsors, donors, volunteers and over a hundred participants to bring off a remarkable morning of fun tennis competition, philanthropy and enjoyable fellowship. Superb organization, devoted effort and splendid cooperation, joined with a high level of sportsmanship, characterized this delightful event.

Hats off to Bunnie, the Furgal family and the companies and individuals who have enriched our summer with this notable happening. May Audie’s memory be blessed.
