Finn Wittrock starring as Hamlet in staged reading at Shakespeare & Company
LENOX — Stage, film and television actor Finn Wittrock leads a cast of Shakespeare & Company veterans in a staged reading of "Hamlet" at 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 in the Tina Packer Playhouse, 70 Kemble St.
Kevin G. Coleman is directing a cast whose members include, among others, Jonathan Epstein as Claudius, Elizabeth Aspenlieder as Gertrude, Malcolm Ingram as Polonius, Rory Hammond as Guildenstern, Dylan Wittrock (Finn's brother) as Rosencrantz, Kate Abbruzzese as Ophelia, and David Joseph as Horatio.
Wittrock grew up with Shakespeare & Company. As a child he appeared in many of the company's outdoor productions at The Mount, as well as with Jonathan Epstein in "Richard III" at the Duffin Theatre in 1999. Most recently, Wittrock was seen in the Oscar-nominated film "The Big Short," in which he starred opposite Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, and Steve Carell. Wittrock has been a part of the critically-acclaimed series "American Horror Story" for the last two seasons. This fall, Finn will be seen with Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in the film "La La Land." Upcoming New York productions include "Othello" with Daniel Craig and David Oyelowo, directed by Sam Gold, and "The Glass Menagerie" with Sally Field.
"We're excited to have Finn return to Shakespeare & Company long after his formative years at the Mount when he and other company members' kids formed their own company — cutting, casting and performing many of the same roles that they saw their parents playing," Coleman says in a news release.
