Fisherman tired of lottery litter
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
Fly fishing and scratch tickets. What connection could there be? I’ll tell you a little story.
I’m a fly fisherman and when I go fishing I find hundreds of used scratch tickets wherever I go. I’m disgusted seeing them all over the ground. It’s hard for me to fathom how people can be so thoughtless and uncaring about littering our planet.
I think it should be a law that people who buy tickets scratch them wherever they buy them and dispose of them there. The state Lottery Commission is actually contributing to littering by not making ticket scratchers do this.
You will never stop people from throwing their junk all over the ground. But making people dispose of their lottery tickets where they buy them will control a fraction of the littering problem. And it takes the same amount of time to scratch a ticket whether at a store or at the side of a stream.
