Five arrested on drug, conspiracy charges

NORTH ADAMS — Two simultaneous motor vehicle stops resulted in five arrests and the seizure of more than 400 bags of heroin on Monday, according to police.

The stops occurred on Curran Memorial Highway and were conducted by North Adams Police and the Berkshire County Drug Task Force, according to a post on the North Adams Police Department Facebook page.

The arrests were the result of a "lengthy police investigation," according to the post.

Because criminal matters aren't heard on Tuesdays, the suspects are expected to be arraigned in Northern Berkshire District Court on Wednesday.

The five people arrested each face drug possession and conspiracy charges, according to dispatch logs. The arrested were Joshua Stimpson, 29, of Eleanor Road, Pittsfield; Courtney Tatro, 21, of Clarksburg; Alysha Orvis, 26, of Main Road, Savoy; Kayla Malloy, 29, of Blackinton Street, North Adams; and Gavin Mahar, 23, of Furnace Street, North Adams.
