Five Berkshire County golfers to compete in MIAA state championships this week

The state golf championships begin Monday, with Division I and Division II golfers from Berkshire County heading out east to compete.

Pittsfield's Kevin Quinto will go for a Division I championship at the William Devine Golf Course in Dorchester, while Mount Greylock's Kyle Alvarez and Wahconah's Jon Dos Santos will compete in the Division II championship at Black Swan Country Club in Georgetown.

On Tuesday, Lee's Thomas Fraser and McCann Tech's Cole Kratz will play in the Division III championship at Shining Rock Golf Club in Northbridge.

Division I

Quinto will get his day underway on the 18th hole at William Devine Golf Course, with the shotgun start commencing at 9 a.m.

Quinto will be paired with Holyoke's James Imai and Billerica's Connor Sterin.

He will be one of three Western Mass. golfers playing as individual qualifiers, joining Agawam's Matteo Godek and West Springfield's Danny O'Toole. Longmeadow, East Longmeadow and Holyoke will be competing as teams.

Division II

Alvarez and Dos Santos will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday in Georgetown.

Dos Santos will tee off on No. 12 to begin, joining Nipmuc's Kyle Downing, Grafton's Devon Breen and Apponeequet's Ian Fickert.

Alvarez will tee off on No. 6 with Belchertown's Frankie Murray, Southwick's Bradley Durand and North Attelboro's Robbie Congdon.

Frontier's Mikey Corduff and Pathfinder's Joe Conkey will compete as individuals, as well, while Belchertown and Southwick will try and win the team championship.

Division III

The Division III championship will be on Tuesday at Shining Rock Golf Club, beginning at 10 a.m.

Fraser will tee off on No. 4 with AMSA's Joe Coilino, Dover-Sherborn's Mark McVeigh and Hopkins' Jack Ter Doest.

Kratz will start on No. 16 with Arlington Catholic's Jon Cammarano, Weston's Nick Cumming's and Sutton's Colin Faucher.

Fraser and Kratz are the only two individual qualifiers from Western Mass. Hopkins and Pioneer Valley will compete as teams.
