Friday’s local sports: Williams women’s hockey earns conference victory
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Two goals from Hanna Beattie led Williams to a 5-2 win over Connecticut College on Friday night.
Connecticut College’s Ashley Anctil tied the score at two with her goal 2 minutes, 41 seconds into the second period.
But three unanswered goals from the Ephs sealed the game. Beattie’s second goal of the night capped the rally.
High school hockey
Greenfield 7, Mount Everett 3
GREENFIELD -- Greenfield came out on fire with an energetic Senior Night crowd, beating Mount Everett in its final game of the season.
Aaron Norton started the scoring for Mount Everett scoring 4 minutes, 14 seconds into the game.
Greenfield answered with three straight goals before Jacob Malicky scored 7:43 into the second period, cutting the deficit to one.
Greenfield scored three more times however, to seal the game.
Miss Hall’s 46, Stoneleigh Burnham 37
PITTSFIELD -- Miss Hall’s School used solid defense to beat Stoneleigh Burnham.
Miss Hall’s coach Matt Ward credited the defense of Tiana Dyson and Indiana Ravenhill for holding Stoneleigh’s leading scorer Squoya Haughton to two points in the first half. Haughton finished with 10. Leva Jaspante led Stoneleigh with 12.
Grace Guachione helped Miss Hall’s out of a shooting slump, by scoring 17 of her game-high 23 points in the second half.
High school hockey
Mount Everett 3, Amherst 0
SHEFFIELD -- The Spartans earned their first win of the season, and the first win in the last four years of the program.
Jonah Swotes and the Everett defense combined for the shutout effort. Swotes made 41 saves.
Adam Derwitsch, Peter Lovejoy and Jacob Malicky all scored in the first period. Kyle Smith and Aaron Norton each had two assists.
"Huge for these guys to get their first win in a shutout," Everett coach Aidan Gilligan said. "Good performance from the kids top to bottom. Couldn’t be more proud with the strides they’ve made throughout the season."
