Friday's basketball: Lenox girls rout Holyoke Catholic
LENOX -- Lenox's girls basketball team came alive in the second quarter on Friday night, shutting out Holyoke Catholic en route to a 50-14 win.
Liz Mitts and Hayden Zinchuk scored 12 points each in the victory as 10 different Lenox players scored. Millionaires coach Nicole Patella said her team struggled to score in the first quarter before exploding in the second. Lenox outscored Holyoke Catholic 19-0 in the period.
"Very happy with first start," Patella said. "We were looking out on the break, getting our press on, getting good baskets."
Athol 53, Wahconah 44
ATHOL -- Wahconah led by five at halftime but managed just 13 points the rest of the way.
The Warriors got 20 points from Gabby Lavinio and 13 from Shannon Lussier in the loss.
"We struggled to stay within our offense in that second half," said Wahconah coach June Blake. "We had some good oppotunities that we didn't capitalize on."
Athol placed three players in double figures, led by 14 points from Tanner Favreau.
