Friday's basketball: Pittsfield girls get win over Taconic
PITTSFIELD -- The Taconic girls held city rival Pittsfield to just 18 points in the first half, but couldn't stay with the Generals in the second half of a 46-34 loss.
Courtney McLaughlin led Pittsfield with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Rachael Hunt added 14 points and 13 rebounds. Taconic got 11 points from Nyanna Slaughter, who also had 14 rebounds.
"Really what it came down to, was the second half we ran out of gas," said Braves coach Matt Mickle. "They really got us on the offensive rebounds."
Lenox 52, Greylock 33
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Lenox held the Mounties to seven points or less in each of the first three quarters en route to the win.
Hayden Zinchuk had 14 for the Millionaires while Liz Mitts added 12 and Jaclyn Gigliotti had 10. The Mounties were led by 11 from Mackenzie Flynn.
"They play good, solid defense," said Greylock coach Paul Barrett. "They play Lenox basketball. I'd say they shot a good percentage, they rebound well and defensively we gave up too many facecuts. They were very effective."
McCann 41, Putnam 26
NORTH ADAMS -- Mary Nguyen scored a game-high 18 points and recorded 10 steals for a double-double as the Hornets got defensive in the win.
