Friday's golf: Taconic beats Mount Greylock


WILLIAMSTOWN -- Senior co-captains John Keegan and Mitch Omelenchuck along with sophomore Brett Murphy had solid rounds to help Taconic up its record to 2-0 with a seven-shot victory over Mount Greylock (0-2).

Keegan shot a team-best 6-over-par 41 while Omelenchuck and Murphy each shot 42 on the front nine at Waubeeka Golf Links as the Braves totaled 171.

"We're off to a very good start and I feel very good about that," said Taconic coach Mike Hillman. "I was a little nervous after our first two groups finished, but Keegan and Murphy came up big in the final group."

For the second straight match, Greylock's Matt Wiseman earned medalist honors in a losing effort. He fired a 4-over 39 to lead the Mounties. He shot a 42 at Cranwell Resort, Spa and Golf Club in his opening match against Lenox.
