Friday's high schools: Hanson leads Mountie lacrosse
MANCHESTER, Vt. -- Five goals from Kent Hanson led Mount Greylock to a 16-7 road win over Burr and Burton Academy.
Michael McCormack added four goals and five assists in a game that was tied after one quarter. The Mounties outscored their hosts 13-4 over the final three periods for the win.
Pat Malloy earned the win for Greylock, making eight saves in net.
After BBA pulled within 8-7 in the third quarter, the Mounties reeled off eight straight goals to put the game away. Michael McCormack had three of his goals over that stretch.
Wahconah 13, Pittsfield 10
PITTSFIELD -- Wahconah scored five straight goals after the game was tied at 3 in the first half.
Sam Kasala had two of those goals on her way to four for the day. Jamie Budaj also scored four times for Wahconah.
The two teams played even in the second half, but that one lapse by Pittsfield in the first was the difference.
"They played smarter than we did," said Generals coach Daniella Gardino. "We did not look like our team. I gotta give it to Wahconah. They wanted it more, it seemed like."
Jen Ogle had three goals for Pittsfield.
Mount Anthony 12,
DALTON -- The Warriors trailed 5-0 at halftime, and 8-0 before Chris Girard scored to snap the run. Girard had both the Warrior goals. Curran Pularo and Matt Clayton had the Warriors’ assists.
However, Wahconah coach Greg Lange praised his goalie, Matt Chrostowski (19 saves), as the player of the game.
"Matt was phenomenal," said Lange. "He made at least four point-blank stops for us. Without him, the score is, like, 30-2."

"Yeah, it stinks that we lost our undefeated season," said Lenox coach Phil Cohen, "but we were playing without our No. 1 singles guy, so we had to move things around a bit, and we still only lost by a few points. So we took something good away from this. Andrew Vickery stepped up for us at No.1 singles, and Dan Palmer played very well [at No. 2 singles]."
