Friday's swimming: A sweep and two splits
CRARYVILLE, N.Y. -- It came down to the final relay and Taconic Hills got the points it needed to beat the Wahconah girls 87-83.
Taconic Hills finished second and third in the 400 freestyle relay to grab the win. Wahconah won the relay in 4 minutes, 41.25 seconds, but it wasn't enough. Summer Daley picked up wins in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.31) and the 100 butterfly (1:15.8) for the Warriors.
Taconic Hills won the boys meet as well, beating a short-handed Wahconah squad 98-54. Mitchell Salvini won the 200 free (2:34.7) and the 100 backstroke (1:18.07) for the Warriors. Teammate Kyle Miller also had two wins, taking the 200 IM (2:30.33) and the 100 fly (1:15.8).
Pittsfield, Hoosac Valley split
PITTSFIELD -- The Hurricanes' girls won 57-37 while Pittsfield's boys stayed unbeaten with a 74-17 victory.
Ken Black (200 freestyle, 100 freestyle), Aaron Coty (500 freestyle, 100 backstroke) and Josh Fuller (100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke) each won two events for the Pittsfield boys. Emma Whitney (100 backstroke), Julia Whitney (100 freestyle, 200 IM) and Liz Bernardy (100 breaststroke, 200 freestyle) were all double winners for the Hoosac girls. Pittsfield's Theresa Murphy won the 50 freestyle in a Western Mass. qualifying time of 27.81.
St. Joe's, New Lebanon split
NEW LEBANON, N.Y. -- St. Joe's won the boys meet 37-13 behind wins from Connor Lein in the 50 free and 100 free. Dan Garrity won the 200 free.
The girls lost 53-40 but Kate Murphy won the 200 IM and 100 fly for St. Joe's. Maddie Roulier had wins in the 50 free and 100 back for the Crusaders.
