PITTSFIELD -- Mount Greylock's girls track and field team bounced back from its first Berkshire County dual-meet loss in seven years with a win on Friday -- but barely.
Pittsfield kept it close the whole way and made a late push with wins in the 2-mile (Lauren Farry) and 1,600 meter relay, but the Mounties earned a 71-70 victory.
Greylock got four wins from Alex Majetich -- in the 100 (12.3 seconds), 200 (25.9), long jump (15 feet, 9 inches) and triple jump (33-91 2), and two key victories from Emily Kaegi in the 800 (2:36.6) and 1,600 (5:21.3). Jenna Phelps won both the 100 hurdles (16.9) and the 400 (1:04.8), and the Mounties also won two of three relay races.
For Pittsfield, Rachael Hunt won the shot put (29-0 1/4) and the discus (89-8). The Generals swept the high jump, led by Megan Kittler (4-8), and got a 3,200 win from Farry in 11:57.8.
On the boys side, Pittsfield swept the 100, the 100 hurdles, shot put, discus, high jump and triple jump en route to a 110-31 win. Josh Bonny won the 100 hurdles (16.8) and high jump (5-4) for PHS; Dan Brien took the 800 (2:09.7) and 3,200 (10:36.6); and Harry Rich won the 200 (24.5) and 400 (55.3).
Monument sweeps Drury
GREAT BARRINGTON -- Another four-win day for Connor Storti, as well as a relay sweep, led the Monument Mountain boys to a 118-23 win.
Storti won the 100 (11.4), 200 (23.4), long jump (19-8) and triple jump (39-6 3/4) for the Spartans, who won every event but the mile, shot put and discus.
On the girls side, Victoria Costello won the 100 (13.4) and the triple jump (32-51 2) to lead Monument to a 94-47 win. The Spartans won all three relays, and got a season-long 120-2 throw in the javelin from Iolani DeRis.
Drury's girls earned wins in the 400 hurdles, 800 and shot put.
Hoosac sweeps Taconic
CHESHIRE -- Hoosac's boys won 75-66, while the girls beat Taconic 74-65.
Steve Coons won both the shot put (39-11) and discus (107-9) for the Hurricanes, who got distance wins from Travis Ciempa (mile) and Jared Haley (2-mile).
Taconic's boys swept the javelin and took two of three places in both the 100 and 200. Dom Nda won the 100, long jump and triple, jump, with Pat Boua winning the 200. The Braves won two of three relays, and in a rare occurrence, Taconic's Shaun Pero and Hoosac's Matt Provost (18.7) tied in the 110 hurdles.
On the girls side, Hoosac's depth led the way. They took both spots in the 100 hurdles, and two of the three top spots in the 100, mile, 400, 400 hurdles, 800, 200, 2-mile, shot put, long jump and triple jump. Courtney Hayer won the 200 (29.1) and the long jump (14-2) for the victors.
