Generational blend at Furgal Classic

Wednesday June 26, 2013

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

I’d like to thank Dick Lindsay and the Berkshire Eagle for the wonderful story Tuesday highlighting this weekend’s Audie Furgal Tennis Classic taking place on Saturday, June 29 at Berkshire West Athletic Club and more than 30 venues throughout Berkshire County.

I wanted to take this opportunity to add that we are still accepting players for the round robin event, and will do so through Thursday. This includes openings for two new doubles divisions: Adult/Kids and Adult/Teen-agers. The entry fee is $30, but it’s free for kids and teens. We hope to have 4 divisions: U18, U14, U12, U10, with medals for all the champions.

We have seen a great deal of interest in these categories that blend our generations and show how tennis is a sport with a tradition of being passed down among so many families. To sign-up, log onto, or call (413) 243-3240. We hope to see you Saturday! CLARE "BUNNIE"

The writer is executive director, Lee Community Tennis Association.
