Get crafty with your wrapping
Reuse your holiday cards
Don't waste money buying sticker name tags for presents. Instead, cut out holiday scenes from used cards and tape them onto the present, labeling the receiver on the cut out.
Put your own stamp on it
Purchase plain colored wrapping paper and put your own design on it with holiday stamps. This can help keep you from acquiring rolls of holiday-specific wrapping paper.
Add sparkle to your package
Giving someone an ornament with their present? Don't wrap it, just use it as part of the gift's decoration. Tie your tree bauble to the ribbon so everyone can see what you've picked out.
Use Sunday comics for fun
Waste not, want not and wrap your fun presents with funnies. Color comics from the Sunday paper make any present pop under the tree. Use the receiver's favorite comic for a bonus.
Make your gift smell the best
Let your loved ones follow their noses to find your gift under the tree. Tuck a cinnamon stick or a sprig of rosemary into your bow. But be warned: family pets may unwrap it first!
Get the kids involved
Top your packages with old fashioned yarn pom poms. All you need is some yarn, something to wind it around and a pair of scissors. Search online for specific directions.
Let the gift speak for itself
Why hide perfection? Use clear cellophane to wrap up fun, unique gift baskets — but skip the basket and use a colorful bowl or serving platter to serve up your gift.
