Grade-school students to perform 'Wizard of Oz'


SHEFFIELD -- More than 50 students in grades three though six will sing and dance their way to Oz this weekend as they take part in benefit performances of the beloved classic, "The Wizard of Oz."

Proceeds from the performances will go to support the Southern Berkshire Reg ional School District's arts programs.

"This wonderful production wouldn't be possible if it weren't for the contributions of the talented musicians and theater veterans who live in our community," said Michele Shalaby, mother of Mary, the production's Dorothy.

"They've used their talents to bring out the best in the students and put together a professional experience that is truly fun to watch.

Performances will be held at the Thomas A. Consolati Per forming Arts Center, located in the main school campus in Sheffield, today at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

General admission tickets are $9; tickets for students and seniors are $7.
