Grateful for the gift of 'Fiddler'

Friday June 29, 2012

We saw "Fiddler on the Roof" on June 22. During the first moments of the play, as those glorious voices and moving bodies filled the stage singing "Tradition," I found myself feeling grateful to be in that theater that night. The cast, the music, the choreography, the stage settings, the costumes. Grateful for it all.

I had seen some wonderful productions at Barrington Stage Company in Sheffield, but for me it was when Julianne Boyd brought her theater and her talents to the gorgeous old building in Pittsfield that everything burst into extraordinary theater. Tevye and his cast filled my heart. I laughed, I cried and I smiled a lot. I felt joy being in that theater. Like a child, I thought I would burst.

Thank you so much, Julianne Boyd. And thank you to each of you who had a part in giving us the gift of "Fiddler on the Roof." May God bless you and grant you long lives. (Sabbath Prayer, "Fiddler on the Roof.")
