Great Barrington: Author to discuss challenges of friendship through illness

The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires will present "Navigating the Challenges of Friendship Through Illness, Grief, and Sickness of Heart," with author and editor Letty Cottin Pogrebin at 10:45 a.m. Friday, July 18, at Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, 270 State Road.

Fascinated by the varied reactions of her friends during her recent bout with breast cancer, Pogrebin was inspired to write the book "How To Be a Friend to a Friend Who’s Sick" for which she interviewed more than 80 people.

Pogrebin, a founding editor and writer for Ms. Magazine, is the author of 10 books.

The program will be followed at noon by a buffet lunch. The cost of the program with lunch is $11; the program alone is $5.

For reservations and information, call Nancy Maurice Rogers at (413) 442-4360, ext. 15.
