Great Barrington: Bystander CPR class offered

The McCormick Family, in partnership with the Great Barrington Fire Department and Southern Berkshire Ambulance, is hosting a Bystander CPR class from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Great Barrington Fire Station.

Immediate bystander compressions-only CPR on a person in cardiac arrest may keep the patient alive until medical personnel arrive.

The class is open to all ages and no registration is required. The class will cover compressions-only CPR and basic use of an AED (defibrillator).

Participants will also have the opportunity to witness a demonstration of how paramedics work a cardiac arrest.

Those interested in a full American Heart Association CPR certification class may contact Southern Berkshire Ambulance at 413-528-3632 or Nancy Race, Fairview Hospital's training coordinator, at 413-854-9729, ext. 23.
