Great Barrington: Edible education series announced
Berkshire Co-op Market, Berkshire Grown and Bard College at Simon’s Rock are joining up to offer Edible Education, a series of educational events, at the lecture center of Bard College at Simon’s Rock.
All events take place on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and are free, with a $5 suggested donation that will benefit the work of Berkshire Grown.
The series will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 3, with a presentation of "An Introduction to Edible Education" with food educator and author Michael Pollan. This is a filmed lecture given at the Edible Schoolyard Project at the University of California Berkeley.
Subsequent events include an in-depth panel on the 2012 Farm Bill, also from the filmed Berkeley series, on Oct. 17; the politics and economics of meat on Nov. 7; and "The Global Food Crunch," a special live event with Michael Klare, Five Colleges professor of Peace and World Security Studies based at Hampshire College, on Dec. 5.
