Great Barrington: Fourth annual BioBlitz slated June 13, 14

In celebration of local biodiversity, Berkshire County’s fourth annual BioBlitz will be held at the Threemile Hill Trail from noon Friday, June 13, to noon Saturday, June 14.

The weekend event will allow scientists and local residents to document the extensive variety of life in a local area and experience first-hand the diversity and importance of a healthy, active ecosystem in their own community.

A variety of family-friendly, interactive and nature-oriented programs will take place during the 24 hour event. Public programs will start at 2 p.m. Friday and include a mushroom walk, track and sign tips and tricks, pond life exploration, a "Moth-Light" demonstration, and an "Owl Prowl" hike.

Saturday’s events include an 8 a.m. bird walk followed by a Native Species walk.

All programs are free. For a full schedule and directions, visit
