Great Barrington: Hevreh announces Shavuot services

Hevreh of Southern Berkshire will conduct services for Shavuot and confirmation at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 3. The holiday celebrates Moses’ receiving the Torah on Mount Sinai.

Hevreh’s congregation will observe the holiday with confirmation of eight of Hevreh’s students who have completed five years of study beyond Bar and Bat Mitzvah.

Rebecca Fasciano, Sabina Fouser, Adina Friedman, Elizabeth Gale, Goldye Horan, Sophie Mortman, Jacob Schulman and Helen Shapiro Albert will lead the service and offer their reflections on confirming their Jewish identities.

Yizkor, memorial prayers, will be part of this Shavuot observance.

Services for Shavuot continue at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday hosted by the Berkshire Minyan, an egalitarian traditional minyan that meets at Hevreh.

All are welcome to attend Shavuot and confirmation services. Hevreh is located at 270 State Road. Information: (413) 528-6378.
