Great Barrington: Household hazardous waste collections set

The South Berkshire Household Hazardous Waste Collaborative will hold paint and oil collections for its 16 participating towns on Saturdays, June 1 and 29. The Center for EcoTechnology will coordinate these collections.

The participating towns are Alford, Becket, Egremont, Great Barrington, Lee, Lenox, Monterey, Mount Washington, New Marlborough, Otis, Richmond, Sandisfield, Sheffield, Stockbridge, Tyringham, and West Stockbridge.

The collections will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on June 1 at the Lenox Department of Public Works, and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on June 29 at the Great Barrington Recycling Center, across from Monument Mountain High School.

Acceptable materials are oil-based paint, stains, paint thinners, spray paint and turpentine, as well as waste motor oil. No other type of oil or fuel will be accepted.
