Great Barrington: Senior homecare options is subject of panel discussion

Berkshire South and AGE Triad will sponsor an informative panel discussion for seniors and their families on how to remain in their own homes as they age and their needs change.

The program, "Strategies for Seniors to Remain Independent and at Home: The Legal & Home Care Perspectives," will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Berkshire South Regional Community Center, Crissey Road.

The panel will discuss estate planning, home and community based care, Veteran's Administration benefits, public benefits, and the many homecare options, as well as creative solutions to common barriers in the home environment and home safety and accessibility.

Panel participants include Paula K. Almgren, elder law attorney and board member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; Kira Breard, certified senior advisor, Interim Healthcare; and Karen Mearns and Estelle Strydom, Aging in Place specialists, At Home Rehabilitation and Consulting Services.

This program is free and open to the public. Call (413) 528-2810, ext. 10, to register by Sept. 26. Light refreshments will be served.
