Great Barrington: Simon's Rock hosts Black History Month gospel concert


As part of Black History Month, Bard College at Simon's Rock will host a gospel concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at the Daniel Arts Center's McConnell Theatre.

The four choirs to perform include Macedonia Baptist Church Praise Ensemble and Ivey Duo, both of Albany, N.Y.; Macedonia Church of God In Christ Choir of Springfield; and Price Zion AME Choir of Pittsfield.

The concert will feature a range of traditional and contemporary gospel music as well as the sounds of Ivey Horns. This event is free and open to the public.

Upcoming Black History Month events include a lecture by Du Bois speaker, Bernard Lafayette, at 7 p.m. Feb. 18, in the McConnell Theater.
