Gun pulled in alleged robbery at Pittsfield inn
PITTSFIELD -- Two city men were arrested Monday following an apparent drug-related armed robbery at the Quality Inn on Cheshire Road, according to Pittsfield police.
Michael Dion, 28, no known address, and Jerrod Kendig, 32, of Deming Street, allegedly pulled a BB pistol on two city residents in one of the rooms shortly after 11 a.m., according to Pittsfield Police Lt. Michael Grady. A short scuffle ensued as the victims tried to wrestle away the weapon, he said.
"It’s safe to say this is drug-related," said Grady, who declined to identify the victims.
No shots were fired and the alleged robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The victims, who police described as cooperative, identified the assailants to officers, who were able to corroborate the report with witness statements and video surveillance footage from the motel.
Dion was arrested in the vicinity of the nearby Mc Donald’s, while Kendig was found later hiding at his Deming Street residence.
They are scheduled to be arraigned today on one count each of armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Pittsfield Police Detective John Gray at (413) 448-9705.
