Gunshot to head killed Springfield man found in Fenn Street parking lot


PITTSFIELD — A Springfield man whose body was found in a Fenn Street parking lot early Saturday was killed by a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

James Dominguez III, 30, was found near 129 Fenn St. about 1:30 a.m. Saturday after police were called for a report of an unresponsive male.

Officers and first responders immediately began performing CPR. Dominguez was transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The autopsy was performed in Holyoke by Associate Medical Examiner Dr. Robert Welton, according to a statement released Monday evening by the Berkshire District Attorney's office.

No information about the number of shots fired has been released.

No information about a possible motive in the killing or potential suspects has been released.

The investigation into Dominguez's death is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact city police at 413-448-9700.

Dominguez's death marks the first Pittsfield homicide this year.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
