Hancock election contests for Planning Board, moderator


HANCOCK >> Town elections on Monday will feature contested races for Planning Board and the town moderator post.

Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. in the Hancock Elementary School on Route 43.

In the Planning Board race, former member Walter Feltmate is running against Blake Johnson, who would be a newcomer to the board. The seat opened up after board Chairwoman Joan Burdick announced she is stepping down.

Current town moderator Walter Feltmate is facing a challenge from former moderator Brian Fairbank.

There are no other contested races.

On the School Committee, Bruce Gregorek is running for a full term after being appointed to complete the term of Robert Smith, who stepped down, and Alex Kastrinakis is running to fill the seat that opened up when Melissa Leab decided to step down.

Olivia Johnson and Melanie Jackson are both are running unopposed for a seat on the Board of Health.

Blake Johnson also is running for library trustee.

Also running unopposed are incumbents Arthur F. Williams for the Select Board, Mark Gaskill for constable, Renee Hanson for the Finance Committee and assessor, Julie Williams for tax collector, Joan Burdick for treasurer, and Linda Burdick for town clerk.

Nobody filed to run for Cemetery Commission.
