Harris is ready for job right now

Wednesday August 22, 2012

Much has been made of the register of deeds being a manager. In her letter to the editor of August 17), Cathy Field states a pilot oversees the flight crew, a doctor manages his office and a plumber works in a specialized area. Yet each of these people has years of experience in their field and indeed are not allowed to practice until they have passed some form of exam and received a license.

Would you want a plumber overseeing the flight crew, a pilot managing your doctor’s office, or a doctor overseeing your plumbers? I certainly would not. None would know if their staff was doing the job properly. Proficiency in a profession takes years of specialized training and experience in the field.

Patsy Harris already has the training and the experience to be the register of deeds. She has 28 years of experience within the Registry, as a paralegal, title examiner and Registry employee. She is now the assistant register. Please vote for experience. Vote for Patsy Harris on Thursday, Sept. 6.
